Long Toft’s Governing Body is composed of parents, staff and members of the local community. All Governors volunteer their time, expertise and commitment to support the school in delivering the highest quality education for every child.

Working in partnership with the Headteacher, the Governing Body has a central responsibility for ensuring continuous strategic improvement. Governors hold the school to account for its performance, pupil progress and the overall well-being of all children. Their role includes scrutinising key aspects of school operations such as parental engagement, academic outcomes, financial management, staffing matters and the maintenance of the school site and premises. The Governing Body provides both support and challenge to the Headteacher and the wider school.

Parent Governors are essential to maintaining a balanced and effective Governing Body. They bring valuable insight into the views and experiences of our wider parent community. All appointments are subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. We currently have a vacancy for one Parent Governor if this exciting role interests you - check our Vacancies page.

We greatly value the dedication of our Governors and invest in high-quality training to support them in their roles. This includes safeguarding training, inductions for new governors, and regular updates from the NGA, Modern Governor and North Yorkshire Governance Support Service.
